Abstract.
This is the first official publication of upcoming Gadjah Mada University Summer Course in Disaster Medicine: Global Warming Chapter. The project will be held in Yogyakarta Indonesia, in July 2008.Main activities for this program are Basic disaster medicine course with specialized in Global Warming theme, social work for applying the knowledge and skills to the society, clinical clerkship in Sardjito General Hospital, and social program. This program is specialized designed for clinical medical students. Expected Outcome from this program are that, all participants could have sufficient knowledge and skills in the foundation of disaster medicine and management, as well as related to Global Warming effect related disaster, and could apply their knowledge and skills in clinical field and especially in the society. Dear friends,

We have probably been reading or hearing a lot about global warming in recent years, but perhaps we think of it as a threat in the distant future. The truth is that global warming is happening right now, and we must live with the devastating effect of global warming each and every year. Global warming affects nearly every aspects of our lives on earth, and each year there are many deaths that can be indirectly attributed to the effects of global warming. No matter where we live, chances are we will recognize some of the signs that can be undoubtedly attributed to global warming. Increasing rainstrom, early snowmelt that result in flooding, rising seas that endanger islands, coastal flooding, and increasing of wildfire are some of present dangers of global warming that threat people all over the words. Shold these natural disaster happen, we have no other choice than utilizing all of our knowledge and skill to coordinate with others to help survisors. On such situation, a good medical skill and knowledge of disaster management are necessary for us as medical practitioner.

Looking at these backgrounds, Center for Indonesian Medical Students Activities (CIMSA) in local of Gadjah Mada University (GMU)organizing:

ISCDM 08 is the second International Course that or ganized by CIMSA GMU. This is anand inter-committee project. We collaborate with some departments that related with disaster

Summer Course Programs:
-
Courses, seminars, workshops, discussions, tutorials, and case presentation will be
heldfrom Monday to Saturday, during week 1 and 2 of the course.

Clinical clerkship on some departmentsHospital (GMU educational hospital)
willheld during week 3 of the course. Under supervisor of a doctor in each department,
participants will learn somerelated clinical cases during this clerkship.

Community service program : it’s sort of social work program in which the participants will practice some knowledge and skills that can be applied directly to the society.

Social program
Jogjakarta is one of the most well known tourism destinations in Indonesia. We have everything thatare looking for.have manyplaces with beutiful scenery. Someand museums thatamazing historical value are also locatedSome more, you will be impressed ofarts of Jogjakarta.
During this course, we will organize social programs to :
- Borobudur temple ( one of the word seven wonders)
- Prambanan temple
- Ramayana Ballet
- Mount merapi
- Kaliurang
- Sultan's Palace
- Beaches
- River ( for rafting and other sport activites)

Participants:
The Summer Course is open for medical students in clinical level and medical practitioners.
We have very limited places for the course.

Course fee:
- 70 EUR for IFMSA bilateral exchange (please contact us or your NEO for more detail of bilateral exchange procedure)
- 320 EUR for non-IFMSA bilateral exchange
The fee have to be paid latest on May 2008 via bank transfer.

The course fee will include:
- 3 weeks stay at host family
- 2 daily meals
- Souvenirs
- Airport pickup transport in Yogyakarta City.
The fee will not include:
- Travel to Indonesia
- Several social programs
- other personal expenses or souvenirs that is not provided by organizing committee

We receive applications starting from January 1st, 2008
